The Toledo, OH designated market area (DMA) is a U.S. television market serving the people in the state of Ohio. It is the 81st biggest media market by size in the United States, with a total population of 424,050 TV households as of the 2024-2025 television season, down -1% from that of the 2023-2024 season. The Toledo DMA comprises 12 counties across two states, namely, Lenawee, MI; and Defiance, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Lucas, Ottawa, Sandusky, Seneca, Williams, Wood, and Wyandot, OH.
Also, being a reference for a few things, Toledo news and newscasts have NOT evolved. Toledo has about 7 total hours of THE EXACT SAME stories. We got rid of choppers because nothing was happening. Beyond "premium" spot clusters, there is not 1 single excuse to show 7 hrs of copy and paste newscasts. Plus, the worst reporters and anchors are still here. Only 2 sets of newscasts are seen on 4 stations. 13abc and CW13 duplicate/simulcast newscasts as well. I assume its to keep CW13 on cable, which is dead anyhow. At least WUPW has a SEPARATE WTOL newscasts, using the same "talent." (Not!)
Toledo is losing population quickly. Radio market was 76 in 1998, currently in 2025 is market 105. TV is NOT CREATIVE or innovative. Copy other markets and status quo for 10+ years is the way here. Example- "This is Home" was used for 20 years here. The TV station slogan was toasty (burnt out) within 5 years. 1980's Radio jingles for spots are still in play. Also, stations are not monitored or kept up. Example: CoziTV still says "Sports." Roar channel still says "TBD." Scripps News still says "Newsy." This market needs help.
