Watching Real Time with Bill Maher tonight for a good laugh and I'm just tired of hearing how much the Dems did so much damage as we try to be the ones who are the cancel culture. And how this led to us losing the election. Too far left etc, etc.
Not true Bill Maher.
Not sure about you all but I wanted to write about how so many of us Dems are not at all about cancelling the culture of people who don't agree with us nor how we look down upon people if they offend others for saying the "wrong" thing.
So not true Bill Maher.
We try to be a welcoming group to all. Sure we get angry but it's because we care way too much I think sometimes. Us Dems are not all the same either. Some are farther left, some are in the middle left, and some are towards the right. You cannot put us in a group and say we are all the same. We are diverse and celebrate that.
Instead of placing all the blame on the Dems for losing the election how about considering the people who decided that Trump was the better choice for them personally based on their personal, individual economic issues. Dems and Republicans. Unfortunately our world has become more individualistic vs. community- orientated. For many reasons im sure including our isolation due to social media. (Yes ..I'm using it now.)
And unfortunately this election took on a disturbing trend of people voting for one of the most deplorable, unqualified person because they are not getting what they need personally, individually. Whatever happened to looking at the whole community and what might be best? What the needs are. Looking at what is good and what is not in the entire community. Looking at the issues with the economy in a whole community perspective.
Looking at how we can't make it in the world or how hard it would be if we didn't have other people's support?
Looking at my neighbor and how we are all in this together might give us a sense of what we do (like voting), can affect all of us in the long run and might cause much damage.
We are not trying to push agendas that are way too left on others. Us Dems...and they are many differences with us....just want to try and respect people's choices for their lives and how we are not the judge of someone else. That everyone has rights. We are always trying to make sure we can celebrate those rights. The right to be. For everyone.
That's what I fight for. Respect for people's rights in this country. Not always based on our own beliefs but because they are a valuable person no matter who they are or where they are from. And in this country we need to respect those rights.
So maybe less blame on the Dems and let's look at the whole picture. People today are more about me, myself, and I. Getting ahead or facing roadblocks.
But we are not on an island. We live in communities. We share this country with many people...family, friends, neighbors, strangers, people who agree with us and those who don't agree with us. But we are still a community.
I like to think about the simple African proverb...."I am because We are." We need to work towards that. I have hope we will continue to learn and realize we are stronger together.
So let's stop the blaming game. We are all worthy.
